Power Inverters from Power Bright

What is a power inverter?
A power inverter is a device that connects to a power source and converts it from AC to DC or from DC to AC making the power usuable on different devices like TV's, stereos, musical amplifiers, and other household appliances.

When are portable power inverters needed?
When you are not near a power source such as an outlet inside your home that is compatible with your device, you can connect a power inverter's input terminals to a "deep cycle" or "marine grade" battery's terminals for mobile use or backup.

What devices can be connected to the Power Bright PW line/What is the power rating?
The PowerBright PW line of power inverters accept a 12 volt input and output 115 Volts AC via two North American sockets. You can power devices such as laptops, gaming consoles, televisions, microwaves, portable DVD players, guitar amplifiers and other small electronics which accept a modified sine wave AC current. Check with your devices manufacturer to see if your device can accept a modified sine wave AC current.

How do I connect a power inverter to a power source?
The pw1500, pw1100, and pw900 connect to the terminals of a 12 volt battery with power inverter cables. The pw400 and pw200 connect to a cigarette lighter plug in a car.

What size inverter cable should I use with these inverters?
For a cable that is less than 4 feet, you must use at least a #4 gauge cable.
For a cable that is 4-6 feet you must use a #2 gauge inverter cable.

How long will a battery last?
A 100Ah battery can power a PS3 and 42" LCD TV (about 350 watts) for 3 hours. 350 watt * hours of use / inverter efficiency / battery voltage. A 40Ah battery can power a 45W laptop for about 9 hours. A cell phones charger that outputs .7 amps and 5 volts uses 3.5 watts. 10 hour of use requires 3.25 Ah (ampere-hours).

How much power does my device use?
To determine the power rating of your device, find the output ratings listing on the devices power supply. Multiple the amperage output by the voltage output to determine the wattage. Then multiply that wattage by the hours of use divided by inverter efficiency, divided by battery voltage to determine the ampere-hours your battery needs to provide.

Which Power Bright inverter should I purchase?
You can choose a lower rated inverter for smaller appliances or purchase the Power Bright pw1500 to take care of most mobile power requirements. Check your device's power supply to determine it's power requirements.
